On February 19th, our Division welcomed Dr. Henry Marsh (Senior Consultant Neurosurgeon, St. George’s Hospital, London, UK) as the first Labatt Chair Visiting Professor in International Neurosurgical Education at St. Michael’s Hospital. Inaugural Labatt Chair Dr. Richard Perrin and interim Division Head Dr. Julian Spears provided opening remarks to a packed audience of over 100 attendees at the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute. Dr. Marsh delivered a lecture entitled “The Duty of Candour - Why is it so difficult for doctors to be honest?” Following his lecture, Dr. Marsh signed copies of his acclaimed book, Do No Harm: Stories of Life, Death and Brain Surgery. We thank Drs. Perrin and Spears and R.S. McLaughlin Chair of Surgery Dr. James Rutka for organizing the event.

Dr. Marsh also served as the Keynote Speaker at the Global Surgery Symposium at the Peter Gilgan Centre for Research & Learning that afternoon.
