Fellowships in the Division of Thoracic Surgery
Thoracic Surgery Fellowship
Funded fellowship training opportunities are available in Thoracic Surgery to both Canadian and international surgeons. Typically, this program is for candidates who have completed a residency in Thoracic Surgery. It does not lead to accreditation by the Royal College. The program is tailored to the needs of the fellow and varies from 6 months to 2 years in duration. Exposure to all aspects of general thoracic surgery is available depending on the duration of the fellowship. We have a separate lung transplant fellowship, but 6 months – 1 year can be incorporated into the training if that is desired.
Applications to the fellowship program can be received at any time but decisions will be made for these limited positions in April for the following year. The interested candidate should send a letter of intent, CV, and 3 reference letters to the fellowship director Dr. Laura Donahoe as early as possible.
Lung Transplant Fellowship
Funded fellowship training opportunities are available in lung transplantation. The program is tailored to the needs of the fellow and has a 1 year duration. The fellow will be exposed to all aspects of lung transplantation including recipient selection, donor assessment, donor retrieval, recipient operation, pre- and post-operative care, and long term post-operative management. We have a separate general thoracic surgery fellowship (5.3.2) but 1 year can be incorporated into the training if that is desired.
Applications to the fellowship program can be received at any time but decisions will be made for these limited positions more than one year in advance. The interested candidate should send a letter of intent, CV, and 3 reference letters to the fellowship director Dr. Laura Donahoe as early as possible.
