Paul Wales
Dr. Paul Wales is a neonatal and paediatric surgeon at The Hospital for Sick Children. He completed medical school and his general surgery residency at the University of British Columbia. He then completed a paediatric general surgery fellowship at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto followed by a Masters of Science in epidemiology at The University of Edinburgh. Dr. Wales joined the Division of General Surgery in 2002. Dr. Wales is also the coordinator of the newly developed Group for the Improvement of Intestinal Function and Treatment (GIFT). This group has created a prospective database to allow clinical outcome studies of neonates with intestinal failure. His basic science interests revolve around the role of GLP-2 in gut adaptation and the creation of an animal model for short bowel syndrome.
