Dr. Priscilla Chiu joined the pediatric surgery division at The Hospital for Sick Children in July, 2005. She was educated at Queen’s University where she received her MD before moving on to a comprehensive surgical internship at the Toronto General Hospital in 1991. She was admitted into the Gallie Program at the University of Toronto in 1992 where she undertook additional research training in the Surgeon-Scientist and Royal College Clinician Investigator Programs, completing her PhD in Immunology in 2002 in the laboratory of Dr. Jayne Danska. Following her certification in General Surgery with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and American Board of Surgery in 2002, Dr. Chiu completed additional pediatric critical care training program in 2003 and pediatric surgery residency program at The Hospital for Sick Children in 2005.

Dr. Chiu holds a special interest in pediatric chest surgery. She is currently the general surgery representative for the Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH) group and also part of the Airway Reconstruction Team (ART) involved in the education, management and repair of airway obstructive conditions in infants and children. Furthermore, Dr. Chiu also serves as the general surgery liaison to the Division of Critical Care Medicine. Dr. Chiu is a scientist-track investigator at the Sick Kids Research Institute and her research interests involve lymphocyte developmental biology and leukemia/lymphoma animal models. Her recent publications include both basic science and clinical research into respiratory and malignant conditions.
