Marilyn West Butler

Dr Marilyn Butler joined the faculty at the University of Toronto on a part-time basis in 2026, having previously worked at Stanford University and Oregon Health and Science University.

She brings knowledge and experience in all realms of paediatric surgery, but her focus at the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) is primarily to perform outpatient surgery at Hennick Humber Hospital.  Her practice includes inguinal and umbilical hernia repairs, orchiopexies, removal of skin masses, and the treatment of other benign conditions.  She also has a commitment to teaching students, residents, and fellows at the University of Toronto.

Dr Butler’s research has focused on global surgery, with a special emphasis on systems that promote collaboration and capacity building in low- and middle-income countries.
