Dr. Joanna Ryan is a breast surgical oncologist and general surgeon at Mount Sinai Hospital. Her research interests are focused in surgical education, specifically assessment theory and validity. She completed her medical degree at the University of Western Ontario and her general surgery residency training at the University of Alberta. During her residency training, she also pursued graduate studies obtaining an MEd in Health Sciences Education from the University of Alberta. She completed her fellowship training in breast surgical oncology at the University of Toronto.
