Akbar, Ali

Ali entered medical school at University of Toronto after completing undergraduate studies at Waterloo in molecular biology & biotechnology. Early exposure to neurosurgery led to his original interest, which was cemented in his senior years, along with an interest in global health. Ali helped organize the inaugural Surgical Exploration and Discovery (S.E.A.D) Program to increase exposure of junior medical students to surgery. In his spare time, he volunteered with inner city programs while also playing rugby for the University of Toronto Varsity Blues.
