Timely Completion Policy

Policy Statement

Timely feedback to students is one of the most important tasks that can be performed by teachers. This includes both informal feedback given verbally, as well as more formal feedback given at the end of a portion of the surgery rotation. It is essential that all grading information is available promptly at the end of a student rotation, so that critical accreditation standards can be met, and so that students can receive the feedback they need.

The best practice is to enter the student's evaluation in MedSIS on the day the student completes her/his time on service.

The Department will be using the following policy to deal with evaluations of students:

Week 2 after the subrotation is finished – Site coordinators and site assistants will be forwarded names of evaluations that have not yet been completed.

Week 3 after the subrotation is finished – The Undergraduate Education Director will write the Site coordinator regarding evaluations that have not yet been completed, and will copy the Hospital Surgeon-in-Chief

Week 4 after the subrotation is finished – Names of delinquent evaluators will be forwarded to the Chair of the Department of Surgery who will contact the evaluators to complete their evaluations.
